From October 13th to October 27th, 19 eager students embarked on an unforgettable adventure as they participated in the annual China exchange trip. Under the guidance of Mr. Gray and Mrs. Gan, these students had the opportunity to explore the captivating cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing, as well as the surrounding towns and villages.
The purpose of the trip was not only to broaden their horizons but also to create lasting friendships with Chinese students from one of China’s top secondary schools, nestled in the beautiful and vibrant city of Hangzhou. The experience provided our pupils with a unique insight into the real China, far beyond what textbooks can offer.
One of the highlights of this incredible journey was the chance to immerse themselves in both the ancient and modern aspects of Chinese culture. From the high-tech contemporary designs of daily life to the serene beauty of traditional living environments, our students had a front-row seat to the fascinating contrasts of China.
The itinerary was packed with exciting activities. Apart from visiting world-famous landmarks like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, our pupils had the chance to ride the lightning-fast Shanghai Maglev train, a technological marvel that left them in awe. The adrenaline rush continued as they ascended to the 116th floor of the towering Shanghai Tower, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city below.
This exchange program is organised annually, providing an incredible opportunity for students from Year 9 to Year 13 who are learning Chinese to participate. It’s an educational journey that goes far beyond the classroom, offering a cultural immersion experience like no other.
The China exchange trip has become a cherished tradition at our school, and it continues to offer our students a window into a world filled with wonders and opportunities for personal growth. We eagerly await next year’s adventure and the new batch of students who will embark on this incredible journey of discovery.
