The CCF camp has come to an end, and what a thrilling and rewarding experience it has been for all the cadets! Throughout the duration of the camp, the cadets participated in a myriad of challenging and enjoyable activities, leaving them with memories they will cherish forever.
The adventure began with a day packed full of exciting tasks. The cadets tackled the obstacle course with determination, flipping tyres and navigating through various physical challenges that tested their endurance and teamwork. They also engaged in a brain-teasing escape room, where their problem-solving skills were put to the test. Paintballing and laser clay pigeon shooting provided high-adrenaline fun, while archery tested their precision and focus. Additionally, a first aid scenario taught them crucial lifesaving skills, and an observation post exercise honed their surveillance abilities.
A highlight of the camp was the full day dedicated to field craft, culminating in a section attack into a village. The mission was to overcome the enemy and execute a daring rescue of the injured. The cadets showed immense courage and strategic thinking, successfully carrying out the casualty evacuation under simulated combat conditions.
The excitement didn’t end there. The cadets spent two intensive days on the shooting range. On the first day, eight cadets demonstrated exceptional shooting skills and were awarded marksman badges. By the second day, after their weapons were meticulously zeroed in, an impressive twenty cadets earned the advanced marksmanship badge. The crowning achievement came from Colour Sergeant Harry Baker, who was not only recognised as the best shot of the camp but also the best shot over the four weeks of the CCF annual camps.
In recognition of their hard work, dedication, and exemplary performances, a number of well-deserved promotions were made. Eleven cadets advanced in rank, ranging from Lance Corporal to Colour Sergeant. This momentous occasion was a testament to their leadership, skills, and commitment to the Corps.
As the camp drew to a close, it was evident that every cadet had grown, both individually and as a team. They departed with newfound confidence, skills, and camaraderie, ready to face future challenges with the same spirit and resilience they demonstrated at camp. The experiences and lessons learned will undoubtedly serve them well in all their future endeavours.
