The subject responds heavily to new technologies in the world around them, such as use of digital media and software. Staff keep up-to-date with subject pedagogy through the NSEAD and links with other local Art and Design departments. Links with working Artists and Designers.

Analysis and evaluation of own practice is constantly encouraged to strengthen the visual impact of students’ work.
Extra curricular diet and personal development opportunities
Students have opportunities to extend their practice at both break and lunchtimes. Regular house photography competitions and trips to local and national galleries.

Both GCSE and A-Level courses allow students to express a sense of personal identity through the themes they develop and study. Curriculum equips students with the characteristics to be inquisitive, disciplined and determined individuals.

Success and achievement
Students’ effort and success is highlighted through the use of rewards such as achievements points and VISAs. Additionally, praise emails and Head Teacher Award nominations are also implemented by departmental staff. Use of visualisers in lessons to model and praise work. High quality school displays celebrate individuals achievement and progress.
