Curriculum Vision and Implementation

“Through the study of Chemistry, encourage students to become independent learners who can think critically and solve problems in unfamiliar situations. Students’ interest in Chemistry will be sustained through high-quality teaching, a challenging curriculum and practical investigations”

Highest academic expectations

Students are encouraged to develop resilience & their independent learning via differentiated resources.

Succeed in their chosen pathway

Key practical, presentation & problem solving skills are developed via suitable activities designed to encourage both independent & group work.

Schemes of work are develop in accordance with a curriculum map that provides opportunities for enrichment and extension. Practical work is used where appropriate to provide context for learning.

A modern education

Google Classroom has been developed to provide up to date resources at each key stage and staff regularly access online training to develop subject pedagogy.

Develop strength of character and resilience

Student tasks incorporate opportunities to collaborate, analyse & evaluate in order to challenge their thinking and develop confidence.

Extra curricular diet and personal development opportunities

The Chemistry Olympiad provides sixth form students with the opportunity to challenge & enrich learning. Students in year 7 & 8 participate in a House based science fair project.
