On Monday 15th July, the school will be holding a special Year 9 fundraising morning, and on Friday 19th July, the entire school will participate in a non-uniform day. All funds raised during these events will be donated to the Owen McVeigh Foundation, an organisation that has provided tremendous support to Jared and his family during a challenging journey.

Jared was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 15th June 2022. Since then, he has undergone an intense treatment regimen that includes chemotherapy, numerous operations, and various medications to manage his condition. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Jared has shown remarkable resilience and bravery, earning the admiration of his parents and the wider school community.

The family has received exceptional care from Alder Hey Hospital and the dedicated staff in the Oncology unit. Additionally, the Owen McVeigh Foundation has been a vital source of support, providing Jared and his family with numerous memorable experiences that have brought joy and relief during difficult times.

As Jared approaches the end of his treatment in mid-July, his Year 9 peers have organised the fundraising events to express their gratitude to the Owen McVeigh Foundation. The foundation has not only supported Jared throughout his treatment but will continue to do so during his remission and beyond.

The Owen McVeigh Foundation, established in memory of Owen McVeigh, aims to enrich the lives of children and their families who are battling cancer. The foundation provides unique and unforgettable experiences, offering much-needed respite and happiness during challenging times.

The upcoming fundraising events are a heartfelt effort by Jared’s school community to give back to the foundation that has given so much to them. The school extends its deepest gratitude for any donations made to support this worthy cause.
