We are delighted to share that our talented art teacher, Mrs A Gaston, is currently making waves in the Liverpool art community. Mrs Gaston has two of her paintings on display at the prestigious Liver Building as part of the Liverpool Art Fair. Additionally, she is honoured to be Dot Art’s featured artist this month, a testament to her creative prowess and dedication to the arts.

Mrs Gaston, an artist and art teacher based in Liverpool, has a rich background in fine arts. She graduated from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design in 2003 with a BA in Fine Art. Her work is characterised by its unique ability to distort and slightly abstract the world around us, offering fresh and intriguing perspectives. Mrs Gaston’s art often explores themes of femininity, domesticity, celebration and nature, bringing a distinctive vibrancy to her pieces.

Her creative process involves reinterpreting and responding to her surroundings. Mrs Gaston selects items that hold personal intrigue or meaning, abstracts them and exaggerates their colours, often combining these elements to form new, imaginary scenes. Her aim is to present a novel viewpoint of the everyday—whether it’s the mundane, the precious or the natural world.

Mrs Gaston draws inspiration from renowned artists such as Audrey Flack, Lisa Milroy, Wayne Thiebaud, Edward Hopper and Robert Rauschenberg. Her work reflects a blend of these influences, resulting in a style that is both distinctive and thought-provoking.

Her professional achievements in the art world enhance her teaching, offering students firsthand insight into the life and practice of a successful artist. This connection to the broader art community enriches our school’s art programme and inspires our students to explore their own creative potential.

We encourage everyone to visit the Liverpool Art Fair to see Mrs Gaston’s work on display and to explore her profile as Dot Art’s featured artist.

Congratulations, Mrs Gaston, on your remarkable achievements!
