We understand the importance of recognising achievement. One way in which we do this is through our honour tie system.
Students who show commitment and dedication to a particular discipline or subject area are eligible to apply for an honour tie in one of the following categories:-
- Clubs & Societies
- Drama
- Music
- Sport
- MFL
Criteria for achievement
Club and society ties can be awarded for regular attendance, services to a club or representation for the school. Criteria may vary by club, please seek clarification from the club leader before applying.
Drama ties are awarded for involvement in four school drama productions.
Music ties are awarded to students who attend choir or band for two consecutive terms and participate in a large music event, either House Music or the Christmas or Summer Concerts.
Sport ties are awarded at three levels of achievement:
- Level 1 ties recognise selection and representation for an individual or team sport
- Level 2 ties recognise selection and representation at County level (eg Cheshire or Merseyside) or equivalent
- Level 3 ties recognise selection and representation at National level (eg England or Wales)
How to Apply
If you wish to apply for a school honour tie please complete the enclosed Google form. Subject to approval from the appropriate member of staff, payment is then made via parentpay.com. Ties cost £7 each and are presented to the student by their form tutor.
Year 7 students are asked to wait until their first spring term before applying for an honour tie. Ties are awarded for activity attained during a student’s time at Calday. Unfortunately, it is not possible to award ties for activities undertaken prior to joining the school.
