A bumper crowd at Prenton Park were treated to an exciting and hard-fought match last night as Hilbre edged out Calday 5-3 in a charity football game that raised over £4,000 for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Hilbre looked in complete control early on, dominating possession and converting their chances with clinical finishing. They raced to a 3-0 lead before half-time, leaving Calday with a mountain to climb. But after the break, the game shifted dramatically.

Calday came out firing, showing real determination. They pulled one back quickly, then struck twice more in rapid succession to bring the game level at 3-3. For a while, it looked like they might pull off a remarkable comeback.

Hilbre, though, weren’t rattled. They regrouped and pushed forward again, finding the net twice more in the closing stages to wrap up the win. It was an intense, back-and-forth contest played in good spirits, with plenty of quality on show from both sides.

Beyond the action on the pitch, the event achieved exactly what it set out to do—raising a substantial amount of money for a cause that matters. Every penny of the money raised will go directly to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity to support its ongoing work with cancer patients and research.

A massive thank you to Tranmere Rovers for their support and for hosting the match at Prenton Park. Their backing helped give the event a proper stage and made it a night to remember. And a special mention must go to Mr Broadhurst, whose hard work and organisation behind the scenes brought the whole thing together.

To everyone who played, donated, volunteered or came along—thank you.
