This week, Year 8 students were treated to an exciting and interactive session with John Gordon Reid, co-director of What on Earth Publishing, who visited to share his passion for history, science, and discovery. Reid, whose company produces the award-winning What on Earth magazine, led an engaging presentation that explored some of the most groundbreaking moments in history, all while connecting maths, engineering, and science.

Reid’s captivating session featured a unique 9-foot timeline, which he used to pinpoint key discoveries across the centuries, showing students how science and innovation have shaped the world we live in today. The use of interactive props and incredible stories brought history to life, making complex subjects accessible and exciting for students.

The visit came as part of the school’s celebrations for both World Book Day and British Science Week, which will take place next week. Reid’s passion for inspiring the next generation of thinkers and creators was evident throughout the visit, as he encouraged students to explore their curiosity and love for learning.
